The purpose of the Article is to show that there is a smarter way for college students to cite a source

The meme targets college students by relating to a problem that they constantly have
● Which rhetorical appeals are used?
They made the meme funny by showing a simple looking happy kid with the words cites Wikipedia the purpose being that the kid is an idiot, the picture under it shows a guy that looks mad sipping his drink with his caption being cites Wikipedia sources this shows that he is a smart guy that is fed up with the system. The meme targets the emotions because the faces of the two people are what give the captions more meaning. The meme appeals to the emotion you read from the visual.

The visual based persuasive genre is a meme, it is used to appeal to a younger audience and a show quick funny joke
● How does the design/style add to its purpose?
The design of the two pictures side by side is used to compare them together and distinguish the two situations. The comparison shows that one guy knows what he is doing while the other doesn’t.
